A heavy metal monster will tear through the season with ungodly fury hammering down on the drums. Here’s Chevy Metal, featuring Shane Hawkins, on their limited US Summer Tour! Our trio’s first three stops will see them rattle Colorado and Massachusetts, closely followed by a New York City rampage on Thursday, July 24th, 2025, at the Gramercy Theatre. A cover band of old-school rock and roll tribute, Chevy Metal splices together a jaw-rocking setlist of b-side favorites from the legendary likes of The Rolling Stones, Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, and more.
"We don't just play covers like the original,” bass player Wiley Hodgden explained. “We make them our own… We f*ck them up a bit, speed the tempos, add jams, etc.”
First formed by the late Taylor Hawkins, this “unchained” Foo Fighters offshoot will wreak havoc with their deep-cut performances, from Black Sabbath’s “The Wizard” to “Psycho Killer” by the Talking Heads. Hit the link for tickets ASAP!
Shane Hawkins, son of the Foo Fighters’ legendary drummer Taylor Hawkins, takes up his late father’s mantle as he joins Chevy Metal on their forthcoming 2025 Summer Tour! From the cover band that brought you live bone-rattling versions of Black Sabbath and Van Halen deep cuts among other flag bearers of ‘70s heavy metal and dirt rock, this engagement will hit the USA square in the jaw. It’s a limited event! With only eight dates lined up, Shane and Chevy will rip through the first half of their run with a concert at the Gramercy Theatre this Thursday, July 24th, 2025, so watch out, New York. They’re coming.
Chevy Metal formed in 2013 as a low-key side project after the Foo Fighters’ break from the road, originally featuring frontman Dave Grohl with Mick Murphy on guitar, Wiley Hodgden on bass, and the elder Hawkins on drum duty. Hodgden remains, joined by guitarist Brent Woods with Shane behind the kit, and they’re raring to unleash the beast on a face-melting bender of heavy rock and roll shows! Their specialty runs deep. Sourcing from such enduring icons as David Bowie and The Police, Chevy Metal promises a full-throttle performance that’s immeasurably wild and larger-than-life, bursting at the seams with unadulterated energy.
“The shows will be loud. It's old-school rock and roll, lots of drum solos. There will be cussing — sorry, we try not to, but it happens,” reminded Hodgden in an official statement.
Recurring staples to look out for include “You Really Got Me” (The Kinks, 1964), “Moby Dick” (Led Zeppelin, 1969), “The Wizard” (Black Sabbath, 1970), “Moonage Daydream (David Bowie, 1971), “Jailbreak” (Thin Lizzy, 1976), “Psycho Killer” (Talking Heads, 1977), and “Unchained” (Van Halen, 1981). The group also has a history of surprise guests, with past appearances by Queen’s Roger Taylor, Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Mick Jagger from the Rolling Stones.
