Formed in 2003, Born of Osiris is an American band from Chicago known for their progressive metalcore music. Initially known as Diminished, the band was formed in the peak formation era of metalcore, alongside other bands such as Veil of Maya, Oceano, For All I Am, and Through The Fire. The band changed names three times and released three EPs before settling on Born of Osiris in 2007. Under their new name, they released their EP titled The New Reign, with the single “The Takeover”. Following the release, Born of Osiris signed to Sumerian Records and are part of the label today.
Born of Osiris’ debut album, A Higher Place, was released in 2009 and peaked at number 73 on the Billboard 200. Following the successful album release, they co-headlined with All Shall Perish, After the Burial, Caliban, and Suffokate on “The Night of the Living Shred Tour”. Born of Osiris’ second album, The Discovery (2011), also landed a spot on the Billboard 200 and peaked at number 87. In 2016, the band became the headliner for Sumerian Records Ten Year Tour and shared the stage with After the Burial, Bad Omens, ERRA, and many others.
Since 2007, under the new name, Born of Osiris has released two EPs, six studio albums, and 26 singles in total. The band originally was a solo project of vocalist Jonny McBee, however, the project has become a three piece band since. The band released their debut album, Burn This World, in 2011, which led them on to touring with Fear Factory and Shadows Fall on the Noise in the Machine Tour, and Static-X on the Noise Revolution Tour. To date, Born of Osiris has released two EPs, six studio albums, and 14 singles. Some of their notable hits are "Gravedigger", "Carnage" featuring Jake Hill, "Poison", and "HIVEMIND".
